Feeling The Pain

You all know I've had pneumonia for awhile, a viral one with a secondary bacterial infection. It was mostly in my right lung. Now it has entered the left lung, and it's making this week particularly painful. I feel as if I have smoked 3 packs of cigarettes all at once. Breathing in hurts, and my lungs just ache. I've cracked a rib from the hard coughing, and that doesn't add to my Christmas cheer. My chest and stomach muscles feel bruised as if they had been punched or kicked.

I know I'm lucky that I don't need to be hospitalized like I did with my worst bout with this germ. That doesn't really help me get out of the funk I'm in though. I couldn't do any of the things I like to do before Christmas like baking cookies with the kids or going carroling. I can't even make fudge with my daughter, and this was the year I was planning to teach her to make our family recipe by herself. I had to watch the kids decorate cookies from across the room in case I'm contagious, couldn't hold my baby niece at all, and going out of the house was out of the question. So I feel a lot more like Scrooge than I want to.

I just wish this could be over. Or that I could sleep through it all. My body is exhausted, but my mind is bored and is tired of being in bed. I haven't taken my narcotic cough syrup for 3 nights now, and I'm finally ready to admit defeat on that point. I didn't want to keep using it because I know narcotics can be addictive. Now I just want relief and some peace.

Thanks for listening to me complain. I'll be in a better mood tomorrow. If not, I'll keep it to myself. :)

Re: Illness - sterlize your toothbrush
Thanks. I am definitely going to give this a try. It sure can't hurt. :) Thanks.
